Me: "...and thank You for this little boy and his daddy..."
Caleb: "...and Mommy. Thank You for Mommy. She's cute."
Me: "What did you say, honey?"
Caleb: "You're cute. And thank You for our friends...and for guitars...and my guitar...and drums. And, I play guitar. And I pray for someone to play drums while I play guitar. Amen."

Christmas in Indiana
Christmas at my parents' house was wonderful. All of my family was together, and we had such a great time spending time with everyone. Caleb especially loved "Mamaw's house." He was often the center of attention due to his being the only grandson/nephew. His vocabulary exploded with essential new phrases such as "Go Boyers!" and "Go Coats!" ** And, he received more presents than I can describe. My parents are amazing. Thanks, Mom and Dad.

He loved building towers with his new alphabet blocks with "Gam-pa..."

...and loved destroying them even more.

He received a set of golf clubs from Uncle Patrick and Aunt Hannah and did the only thing he knew to do with them...use them as microphones. :-)

But then he got a new guitar with real strings!

And of course he had to have a few jam sessions!

And the boys did what they do every Christmas...gamble away their Christmas money. :-) Well, not really. They do what they call "Cross betting." They never really call up the debts. They're so cute.

** Translation: "Go Boilers (Purdue)" and "Co Colts"

A Star in the Making
We are entertained by most of what Caleb does and says, but lately we have been laughing most at his musical talents. He really thinks he is a rockstar, and we are starting to agree. Here is a video that we took today. We took it with our digital camera that doesn't have audio.
Here is a link to the pictures I put on Facebook of his concerts a few days ago. :-) Click here to see them.
Oh, and since you can't hear the words, he is singing again and again, "eeeellllllbbbooooooooooooooowwww, eeeeeeeeeelllbbbooooooooowwwwwwwwwwwww."

American Idol: The Toddler Edition
On Tuesday night, Brandon and I watched a little of the American Idol finale. Caleb was fascinated.

You see, our little boy is quite the musician...if you want to call it that. In an earlier post I mentioned his obsession with guitars. He loves them. He pretends to strum when he hears music or whenever he sees someone playing. He has grown more and more attached to his little guitar, and he always has to play for our friends when they come over.
Lately, we have been blessed more frequently by his singing skills as well. Just as I am not sure where he first saw someone playing guitar, I have no idea where he learned how to hold a microphone. But all of the sudden, he has started singing into his fist. It is really pretty hilarious.
After a song or two on American Idol, Caleb had the moves down. As we were putting him to bed, I took the photos below as he sang on his changing table. He was really getting into it. I told him that he could even be "the next American Idol." I don't know if I will tell him, however, that he has just about the worst musical genes in the world. At least the genes I gave him anyway. Poor kid. So, I guess we could see just how far pure practice and hard work can take you. :-)
Seriously, how can such a little person make us laugh so hard?

The photos above were taken as we were getting him ready for bed Tuesday night. The photo below was taken this morning after he woke up.

There is never a dull day in the Pelton household.

Caleb is 18 months!

Caleb turned eighteen months yesterday. We celebrated this mini milestone with a mini party with our staff team. I made baseball cookies for Brandon and basketball cookies to celebrate Sunday's Brackets Day (NCAA Selection Sunday)...a national holiday in my family. As I mentioned before, we gave Caleb a little guitar, and the two have since become inseparable. Lucas, a friend of ours even taught him how to use a pick!
Taylor, Caleb's best friend, is staying with us this weekend. The two of them are amazing examples of just how differently God created male and female. Caleb seems to want to play independently alongside Taylor, but she is constantly hugging him. Caleb is quiet and focused, and Taylor talks all the time. Caleb plays with his food, and Taylor takes dainty bites and keeps clean. They are so much fun together!

Tomorrow...
is Caleb's eighteen month birthday! It is amazing that he is a year and a half already. My little baby is getting too big too fast. :-)
A few weeks ago, Caleb picked up a toy that he has had since he was born, and he started playing guitar on it. We have absolutely no idea where he learned it! Ever since then, he has done it on anything that is long and skinny... tennis rackets, a little toy rake, and a baseball bat. Today we were at a restaurant, and Caleb heard music coming from a speaker in the ceiling. He immediately stopped and started playing his imaginary guitar. He had us (and the people at the table he had stopped at) dying laughing. I wish you could hear his sound effects.
We bought him a little guitar today for his birthday tomorrow. Brandon picked it out. I will try to post a picture soon.
