Foil and Sharpies

Foil + Hot Glue + Sharpies = Embossing Fun
Who knew?

My good friend, Holly, spends her time on the internet reading wise thoughts
from wise women about all sorts of important subjects.
Me?  I read craft blogs.  :-)

On one of those blogs, I saw this fun idea of using carboard, foil, a hot glue gun, and colored sharpies to make a type of embossed art I had never seen before.
So, Caleb and I tried it...and we had such a fun time together.
He especially loved being allowed to play with the glue gun.

Check out this post for instructions.

It's great that you and Holly read different things - then you can share with each other, and you're both getting both!

I love that you are so crafty. I am the least crafty person ever. But that makes me appreciate you all the more. :) love you.

Looks like fun. I remember another neat foil trick from elementary art class - wrap a couple of layers of foil over a piece of corrugated cardboard and secure to the back. Then use a dull pencil (or some other type of wooden stylus that isn't so sharp it easily cuts through the foil) and draw out lines/shapes. When finished, take brown shoe polish on a rag and wipe in lines all over the piece - looks like an antiqued metal etching.

Might be easier for older kids who can find the right amount of pressure to use without tearing the foil.

Amy (H), does that mean that the cardboard is bumpy...with the inside exposed? Or, is it smooth? It sounds intriguing. :-)
Amy Faith, have fun with Kingston! Just don't inhale the markers. :-)
Kel, I know...it's a good thing. I so value her mind. :-)
Holly, you are not. That's not true. But, I appreciate you too. :-)

I don't know how I missed this post, but how fun and creative! I don't have any kiddos yet, but I want to try this for myself. :)
